Button failure used to be a huge issue when phones came complete with a full keyboard. Certain common letters always seemed to fail making it impossible to type a coherent sentence. But now that most consumers are using smart phones with a touch screen, you might think that button repair is a dying service. However, you would be mistaken. Even though most typing is done in the touch screen, there are still some critical functions that must be done with a cell phone button.
Critical Buttons
All cell phones have a power button and without it functioning properly, the phone is likely to become a paperweight. In addition, most phones have a volume button or toggle type switch that, obviously, controls the sound volume. Other buttons can include the home button, an I-phone must have, menu buttons and camera shutter buttons. In most cases these buttons are used much less frequently than the old keyboard buttons but a few are used more than you would think. For example, an I-phone home button is used every time a finger print scan is used to “wake up” the phone. So it is not unforeseeable that the button could wear out.
The Solution
Shipping any phone to the manufacturer for repair is going to result in several days of a cold turkey connection cleanse. You are just going to have to find a way to live without your phone. If that is not an option, then the best solution is to visit a reputable cell phone repair shop to have the damaged button replaced. The service can be performed while you wait and the cost much less than the purchase of a new phone.
